Pillows for Passover
Yesterday I worked with my son's class at his school to make these cute pillows for Passover. We used big fabric samples from an upholstery swatch book, combined with nice cotton kid-friendly prints I brought with me. Each child chose two pieces of fabric..and helped pin them together, sew them on the machine and then stuff them. They will take them home to use at the Seder during the part when you're supposed to lean or recline. So easy to make and the kids were very proud of themselves!

My Amazing Kids...
Today I took my kids to a birthday party at Madame Alexander. For those of you that don't know it, it's a Doll Company here in NYC that's been around for about 80 years. We had a tour of the factory, watched a man making tiny doll hats, saw miniature clothes being sewn and little wigs being brushed. It was pretty neat..and then we had cake!
Back at home later this evening my kids were very busy and very quiet for an hour while I was not paying attention..suddenly they came running out and surprised me with these..! They had started their own doll factory and made these dolls of our family. They only used what they could find..tape, paper and yarn..how amazing is that!!

Aldrich Museum-Toy Workshop

Inspired by the economy, election anxiety, and the anticipated chilly November weather, The Aldrich announces Free-for-All Family Day, Saturday, November 1, 2008.
Family Day will feature a plush toy-making workshop with Wendy Ann Gardner, author, illustrator, and creator of Scary Stories and Naughty Naughty Pets, on Saturday, November 1, 2008, from 12 noon to 5 pm. Organized activities begin at 1 pm.
Adults and children of all ages are invited to visit the Museum totally free to enjoy an afternoon of shapes and zany creatures during a four-hour toy-making workshop from 1 to 5 pm. Learn how to make your own plush characters, starting with a crazy shape. Gardner will help with the sewing, the rest of the creature details are up to the designer!
